new job. framing again while teaching.

well, i ended up finding myself a job to fill all that extra time out of class (i have two this semester that i'm teaching) that i should've been using to paint. sometimes i find that if i have too much time on my hands, i get less done than if i'm in a pinch. it's a bizarre predicament when you know you should be doing something productive, but instead you watch some awful tv show or check email too much or set up yet another new blog... it's like a crippling situation to be thinking, "wow, i have time i should be using to make work, but i really need to be out there making some money to pay student loans and such (or even -can you imagine- a house?). so, i end up not making anything new and repeating that cycle in a sort of self-loathing procrastination. (jeez, what a downer post.) i hope to make enough at the new job to set my mind at ease a bit. so, i'll be at a frame shop here in town. it's called bill shores frames & gallery and is the longest running operation (that i know of anyway) in town (60+ yrs?). and believe it or not, i think i'll be working in a building directly below my friend, jim tate. i haven't started yet (i will tomorrow), but hope to enjoy it. i'll have a chance to, once again, use some things i learned at the frugal framer in asheville, nc.

i know the feeling. i used to think i was more productive with a full time job but now i think i use it as an excuse to not do anything when i get home. "i cooked for 8 hours today and my boss is an idiot! I'll just watch t.v. tonight."
i always say that i should get a group of people together to collaborate and make each other work harder. but it's just so much easier not to...ya know?
